First off thanks so much to the new and old fans that have been inboxing and asking where I’ve been, how I’ve been, what I’ve been doing and why I haven’t said anything about Fantasia lately. You loyal readers and me noticing that Mz. Papz has been having all the fun have really brought me back.

Okay… on to Ms. Barrino: I don’t really have much to say to Tasia other than congrats on her new baby boy. I am not getting into who the daddy is because that is absolutely none of my business. But hey, all you reality stars, if you don’t want it to be our business, keep your business off of our flat screens!.

As all of you well know, I am a proud island girl and lately, the most overrated underdressed Caribbean chameleon AKA Rihanna is what is so accurately describes as someone who “grinds my gears”.

Apparently, turns out Bajans aren’t too pleased with her themselves for the most part. (Please note that Bajans not Barbadians is the correct term for a person from Barbados all you journalists out there who continuously act too educated to take a lesson and learn the term.)

Bajan church leader Dr. Marion Husbands used the launch of Barbados’ newest political group, the Democratic Labor Group to make it clear that Rihanna is “unworthy of being an ambassador” because she is “always doing foolishness”. In front of Barbados’ Acting Prime Minister, Speaker of The House and other Members of Parliament, Dr. Husbands shared the sentiments of many Bajans that RiRi should not be the country’s tourism ambassador, endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism. He went so far as to say that she is contributing to the state of decay and immorality the country is headed in.

Talk about your own disowning you! Soooo why would he say make such a statement? Would it have to do with the fact that Rihanna’s video has been banned in France because it was deemed self-destructive?
“Let’s see now,” said Thora Jones, on a website discussing the remarks made by Husbands. “Her video has been banned in France. She was recently chased off of a farm in Ireland, and a record number of people in England filed complaints to a standards board about her behavior during a performance there. She showed up in a church in Brazil wearing a necklace with the ‘C’ word on it. Those are just a few incidents. Is this what Bajan tourism officials call ‘promoting’ Barbados around the world? If it is, they are as misguided as she is”.

Aww how quickly we go from being national pride to national embarrassment. But Jones went on to say that Rihanna told Rolling Stone that she is “turned on” by all of the negativity surrounding her media coverage.

“This is a joke to her, but not to me,” Jones wrote. I grew up seeing past generations of Bajans working hard to build up Barbados’ image only to see it now being torn down by misguided government officials and people like Rihanna who get turned on by negative media coverage that can affect the country’s image. Watching Rihanna is like watching a wreck about to happen. There is nothing you can do to stop the wreck. All you can do is get out of the way to try to save yourself. The problem in this case is that I can’t save Barbados from this wreck, because certain government officials are determined to stay on the course with Rihanna and keep Barbados in the path of the impending wreck.”

“It is shocking to me that when gun violence and violence against women appear to be on the rise in Barbados, the government is holding up Rihanna as an ambassador,” she added. “Rihanna made a video depicting a man being shot in the head. She has two gun tattoos, one on each shoulder. She wears a necklace with a gun on it. I read in an article that she has gun shaped chandeliers in her home. She has the words Thug Life tattooed on her fingers. She refers to black people as the N word and women as the C word, among other vulgarities, on her Twitter page that is read by millions around the world. After being beaten by Chris Brown, she has stated she likes bad boys and men who are more aggressive. She is quoted in Rolling Stone magazine as stating she is a masochist and is attract to the “dark side” because of her dysfunctional upbringing. We should not be holding up someone who is attracted to the “dark side” as an ambassador for our youth. Many Bajans and others have paid the ultimate price in recent months because a growing number of Bajan youth are attracted to the “dark side”.

So the next time any one of you decide to inbox me about me being hard on Rihanna as a fellow islander, note that somewhere out there in the Caribbean sea, on the island of Barbados, there are quite a lot of people who agree with me that she really need to act like a lady and stop looking like a tramp.
